Insights of the Communication Chair

I had the privilege of serving as the Communication Chair for a semester, overseeing the organization’s social media strategy, branding initiatives, and digital content to engage members and promote events.

Social Media Posts

As the lead content creator for our Instagram, I focused on highlighting key moments throughout each semester. Showcasing our meaningful service events reflects our members’ impact in the community and reinforce what our organization stands for. It was also important to feature social gatherings that helped members connect, celebrate new and returning girls, and recognize our officer team and graduates. My goal was to create a balanced, engaging feed that captured both our mission and our sisterhood.

When editing photos, I aimed to reflect the brightness and kindness our members embody. I kept the overall aesthetic light and airy with vibrant colors and a consistent visual style. I also carefully edited out distracting background elements to keep the focus on our members and the moments that mattered.

Instagram Reels and animated stories designed to captivate our audience and boost engagement. These short-form pieces served as effective call-to-actions, encouraging members to share updates, spread the word about our organization, and participate in ongoing events. Each animation was crafted to stay on-brand whether tied to holidays, recruitment themes, or major announcements ensuring our content remained visually cohesive, energetic, and highly shareable.

Instagram Stories

I designed Instagram Stories that were used to share timely updates about upcoming quad days, profit shares, and daily recruitment posts. These stories allowed me to communicate important details, highlight event logistics, and provide quick, engaging reminders for our members. Because the content was easy to repost and interact with, Stories became one of our most effective tools for spreading information and driving participation across the organization.

Merchandise

Lastly, I designed custom merchandise for the organization, including a t-shirt and sweatshirt that aligned with our branding and member preferences. After creating the graphics, I handled the full production process—collecting sizes, selecting colors, placing the bulk order, managing payment, and distributing items to members. I also coordinated with an embroidery shop to have our official emblem professionally added to their design catalog for future use. In addition, I created branded hat designs specifically for our officer line, giving our leadership team a cohesive and recognizable look.

Conclusion

Through my role as Communication Chair, I was able to shape a cohesive and intentional brand identity for our organization across all digital and physical touchpoints. From managing social content and designing Reels, Stories, and merchandise, to coordinating production and ensuring visual consistency, I worked to create an engaging presence that celebrated our members and strengthened our community. This experience allowed me to grow as a designer, strategist, and leader—and it reflects the passion I bring to every creative project.
